Meet Mimi

Hi, I’m Mimi — though my given name is Kathryn. I’m a teacher with a specialist degree in early childhood education, and I bring 40 + years of experience into my work as a children’s storyteller and author.

I’m the real-life “Mimi” to five delightful grandchildren, and many of my published stories are inspired by them. Some have even worked alongside me to help create books of their own — a joy that perfectly reflects what Mimi Tales is all about.

Jesus is my savior. I love the color pink, adore flamingos, and am a certified bungee fitness instructor. I grew up in a small Southern town and still speak fluent Southerness. I’m so glad you’re here and sharing this journey with me.

How Mimi Tales Began

I’m a little dramatic by nature and creative by heredity.

I’ve always had a head full of stories, ready to pull out at any given moment. It wasn’t until I stepped away from the classroom that I finally had the time to write them down. Mimi Tales grew naturally from that season of life — a place where years of teaching and storytelling could finally come together.

Forty years spent teaching and nurturing young minds taught me the true power of stories — not just to entertain, but to comfort, guide, and inspire.

Storytelling is an integral part of teaching. It’s a way to connect, encourage empathy, and create moments children carry with them long after the story ends.

I believe the most meaningful stories are the ones shared together — the ones that spark imagination, nurture kindness, and stay with children long after the last page is turned.

Through Mimi Tales, I create stories designed to be read aloud, remembered, and loved.

Why Mimi Tales Exists

Mimi Tales was created to slow things down in a busy world — to make space for stories that bring children and grown-ups together.

Each story is written with care, warmth, and intention, designed to spark imagination, nurture kindness, and create moments worth remembering. These are stories meant to be read aloud, shared often, and held close long after the book is closed.
